Will Champions League Final be Sadio Mane’s Liverpool swansong?

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is coming off of his best season as a professional footballer. Mane tallied 22 Premier League goals in 36 matches and claimed a share of the Golden Boot Award. His performances have increased interest from teams outside the Premier League.

Mane’s previous career best in terms of goal came back in 2012-13 while a member of Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg.

With the Senegalese forward playing so well as a Liverpool player, Spanish giants Real Madrid have been linked with his transfer.

Will Sadio Mane leave Anfield for Real Madrid this summer?

Mane renewed his Liverpool contract in November 2018, as he signed a deal to keep him at Anfield until 2023. But as Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho showed in seasons past, a new contract doesn’t mean much when a Spanish club giant comes calling.

Real Madrid are set to overhaul their squad this offseason with several players including Gareth Bale and Luka Modric believed to be set to leave.

Manager Zinedine Zidane is looking for fresh players who are hungry to win trophies and Mane is rumoured to be one of those individuals.

Sadio Mane distances himself from Real Madrid

In the build-up to Saturday’s Champions League Final, Mane has distanced himself from links to Real Madrid, according to the Metro.

Despite Zidane being an admirer of the Senegalese forward, Mane has stated he is happy at Anfield.

It is believed Real Madrid will sign Chelsea’s Eden Hazard this offseason. The Belgian forward has had a great season for the Blues and scored twice in their 4-1 Europa League victory over Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Mane could theoretically partner Hazard at the Santiago Bernabeu next term, but the financial commitment it would take from Real Madrid to add both players this offseason is incredible.

Los Blancos would need to sell several established players to be able to afford both Hazard and Mane. That could prove difficult due to wages.
